SANA KISAN BIKAS BANK (SKBB) is a specialized wholesale Micro-financing Development Bank established with the aim of promoting and strengthening grassroots level Small Farmer Cooperatives Ltd. (SFCLs) in particular and similar other microfinance intermediaries in general.

The major objectives of the bank are: to

  • extend wholesale credit / refinancing to SFCLs and similar other grassroots micro-finance institutions committed to poverty reduction program.
  • monitor, supervise, follow-up and direct SFCLs in accordance with the directives issued by the NRB.
  • extend support and co-operation in the area of finance, technology and training along with the promotion, expansion consolidation and development of micro rural business and rural financial market.
  • help institutional and human resource development of micro finance institutions.
  • support social mobilization process to speed up social transformation. extend support in poverty reduction program by exploring employment opportunity and enhancing income through the institution

The bank's core business is wholesale financing for SFCLs and similar rural MFIs, and it also advocates for and support capacity building of these institutions in cooperation with partners.

Function

The bank, in order to accomplish the above stated objectives, performs the following major functions:

  • Provide short and medium term wholesale credit or refinance to SFCLs and other similar grassroots level financial intermediaries.
  • Develop and deliver varieties of financial and non financial products through SFCLs.
  • Formulate and implement measures to help SFCLs achieve and maintain high recovery ensuring financial self-sufficiency.
