CEO'S Message

The constant effort to reduce multi-dimensional poverty and create an environment for the decent living of the majority small/marginal farmers is failing to bring the desired result. The government has set a goal of graduating the country from least developed to developing country by 2022 simultaneously achieving the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.To this, existing rural socio-economic structure needs transformation. The role of Microfinance institutions (MFIs) in this context seems instrumental.

Sana Kisan Bikas Laghu Bitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd (SKBBL)/Small Farmers Development Financial Institution is one of the prominent leading wholesale lending MFI, which has been constantly engaged in not only providing wholesale credit to its partners Small farmer Agriculture Cooperatives (SFACLs) to further relend the same to poor marginal/small farmers but also building the capacity of member farmers to be economically self-reliant.

The whole activities of SKBBL is guided towards “No one should be left behind from access to finance”, collective farming for production and productivity enhancement, rural micro and small agriculture enterprise development, entrepreneurship, and rural employment creation, engaging youth in agriculture, etc.

The outreach expansion of SKBBL in 546 local municipalities of 76 districts through 1309 partner cooperatives, catering more the 980 thousand members (women members 79 percent), sending small farmer youth to Israel for learning agriculture technology, encouraging and supporting small farmers to engage in agriculture value chain activities are some of the unique and innovative works being carried out by this institution. We believe in human capital development, social capital formation, and community assets creation for rural transformation and sustainable development of the country. We are committed to extending our support to the government to materialize the dream of Prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali. The constant support and trust of the government, International organizations/ development financial institutions, domestic Banks and financial institutions and Small farmer cooperatives, in general, has been the source of inspiration for us to move forward with additional innovative products and services for the rural poor and marginalized people of the country.
